During the week, I was nominated for Fashion Stylist of the Year and Fashion Blogger of the Year at the Redefinition Fashion show (Covenant University's fashion show), though I didn't win any but the support I got from people were too much, it was wayy better than that. Thank y'll so much for voting and supporting me, I truly appreciate y'll 😗❤💋, more to come 👊. I also went for the show, so my review will be up soon.

 Outfit Details,
    Shift Dress- Thrifted
    Beret and Bag - Mom's
    Black top - Dad's
    Shoes - Madden girl

I've been wanting to migrate to wordpress and also have a domain name (reason for my few posts), but there's been little time, and I've been unable to do transactions with my Naira account (whose else is having such issues?)

What have you been up to? What do you think about the look? Would you try the French look? Do comment below, would love to know your thoughts!

HOW TO: SWITCH FROM WORK TO DINNER + DIY

Hey dear,
It's a day to Valentine and in this part of the world (and maybe all parts of the world), Valentine is not a public holiday but a day where we show love and still go to work. Changing from work to the dinner planned by your loved one can be stressful because of closing late from work, traffic and thereby making you late or unable to go. So, here's a way to Slay at work and also to your dinner, all you need is a long-sleeved shirt (which basically everyone wears to work!)

Work- wear

Dinner Wear (Quick DIY)
The same shirt used for work can be converted for dinner, and this was inspired by I.G.- @chicamastyle .
- Button the shirt from the bust to the end
- Wrap the sleeves of the shirt around your arms, to make either an off-shoulder or one-shoulder top
- Tuck the sleeves into the bust of the shrit at the front.
- Depending on what you wearing, tuck the down-prt of the shirt into your skirt or trouser and you're ready to Slay!

Hope you were inspired! What are your plans for tomorrow, I would like to know.

HOW TO: CARE FOR DREADLOCS

Hey dear,
Happy New Month! May this month bring about blessings, favour and all our heart desires and also a better economy for us all. Due to the responses I got in this post , I decided to share my hair journey and tips to maintaining dreadlocks (a.k.a. dreads).
While I was about to go natural, I didn't want the chop my hair the normal way (go to a barber to cut my hair to a short length), wanted something different, so I decided to stop relaxing my hair for 4 months (August-December), then in December I did Dreadlocks which I took on for 6 months yes people, siixx months! probably the best hair decision I ever made, it was stress free, easy to maintain and style!! Dreads is the best way to transition your hair to natural, as it saves you time, stress and agony of combing your unrelaxed hair and doesn't take much of your time to style especially if you are always in a rush. When I took out the dread, my hair had transitioned properly and the "un-natural" part of my hair came off, so I was good to be called a Naturalista!😆

                                                    #FlashbackFriday
         MAINTAINING DREADS
What I used: Supreme Hair ( Afro kinky Braids) , used 1pack, I wanted it short (shoulder length), so it was divided into two. You can also use Noble Gold Artificial Dreadlocks.
It wasn't crocheted, I can't really remember how she did it, but I know she used thread to make it thick and my hair wasn't out.
Supreme Afro-Kinky Hair

                                                          Noble Gold Artificial Dreadlocks
Requirements: -  Oil Sheen,
                         -  Hair Mousse,
                         -  Hair moisturizer,
                         -  Tooth-brush hair brush
                         -  Tail comb.

STEPS
- Moisturize your scalp and inner parts of your hair every 2-3 days. I used Organics hair Mayonnaise and Morgan Pomade.
- Use the tooth-brush hair brush to brush your edges.
- Spray the hair mousse to rub the dreads by palm rolling, the spray the oil sheen to make dreads look nice and shiny every 2-3 days.
- Wash your hair every 2 weeks or once a week, depending on the amount of dirt you allow. You wash it like you are washing your hair (its water-resistant) and drys very fast.
               And you good to go!
Tip: it gets finer and more realistic as the day goes by.
It's the Weekend, don't forget to Live, Laugh and Love!

If you have any questions concerning dreads, you can ask below 👇👇 . Would you try dreadlocs? How did you transition your hair, if you natural? I would love to know in the comment section

KNOWING YOUR SELF-WORTH

  Hey dear,
Like I promised in my last post here, this is a post about self-worth, knowing your self-worth goes a long way in discovering yourself, tackling depression(like I discussed here ) and so much more.

Self Worth, Self Esteem, Self Love all mean the same thing and that's what we all have been trying to do and constantly remind ourselves, but do we really know how to Love ourselves in Christ?. That's what God wants, not looking for love in worldly things. Most people remember to love themselves and their worth when things go bad and start looking for it in other things and ways apart from Christ, which is though good but non-lasting. We love ourselves Physically but forget to love ourselves in Christ.
Self Worth has to do with a whole lot of things, which includes:
- Right Attitude/Mentality: Believe in yourself, have the right mentality. Jesus didn't die for you to be a mediocre or think bad of yourself. HE saw something valuable in you to die for, always try to remember that things may not look /feel right, but that doesn't mean you should sell yourself short. You don't need to think much of what people say or think about you.

- Recognize the Battle to Fight: Most people always feel the need to prove themselves and worth to  people and that's wrong, not all the time prove that you are right, sometimes let them think what they want, not you fighting a battle with them that might cause you something more precious. Sometimes let sleeping dogs lie.
Proverbs 20:3 says it all: It is an honor for a man to keep from fighting, but the foolish are ever at  war.
It's hard sometimes, but you just gotta do it.
- Self Comparison: This is something we are all guilty of, either consciously or unconsciously. Comparing ourselves to others, wanting so bad to be them.etc. Some use it as a way of building-up themselves but that's doing it in a wrong way.
The grass may look greener on the other Side but that doesn't mean it doesn't have to be Mowed.

- Playing Up to People: There is a statistic that says that out of the 100% of people you meet in life:
25% - will never like you, no matter how you persuade them to.
25%- can be persuaded to like you.
25%-  will like you and can be persuaded not to.
25%- will stand by you no matter what.
Playing up to people is seeking and looking for people's approval, sacrificing your identity to people that may not care about you or your feelings.

- Being Content: You've to be content with what you have in terms of material, spiritual gifts, talents, skills. Don't be jealous, instead Appreciate what the person has and God can give you yours if need be. Never think what you've is useless or not good enough, it might not make any meaning now, but trust me God didn't put something less in you.
1 Corinthians 12:6-7 : And there are different operations, but the same God, who is working all things in all. But to every man some form of the Spirit's working is given for the common good.

Self Worth is a journey to Self Discovery because sometimes we forget who we are and our worth and do certain things.
Never get into the petty habit of measuring your Self Worth with other people's Net Worth. - Robin.S. Sharma.

      NOTE TO SELF:
- Let your Life answer your critics.
- Learn not to make a big deal out of things you shouldn't.
- Know the battles to fight.
- Not Everyone will like you.
- Not everyone's Opinion counts, God's Only.

Hope you have a lovely day and weekend Ahead! Don't forget to Comment and Share. What's your take on self-worth? I will like to know what you think

HOW TO: TACKLE DEPRESSION

  Hey you!

It's #ThrowbackThursday , and I decided to throw it back to this post I wrote for a magazine last year where I debunked the myths about the depression and also shared tips on tackling it, Depression or Mental Illness is not something we are all not familiar with, its something a lot of people don't talk about because of fear of being laughed at or not taken seriously. It's something I've also suffered from and dear to my heart and also felt the need to share because I believe someone out there needs it. Here's the unedited version.
P.S. You don't need to be suffering from depression to read this.

Been trying to write this post for a while now, but it’s quite hard putting thoughts into words, but here is something. I know from the title of this post, you'd be wondering what’s all this? Who talks about such these days? and all. But the fact that people don't talk about it is the much reason we need to do so. Many people (mostly Africans) have very vague knowledge or say about Depression, they feel it’s not true and all.

Depression is a state of mind producing serious, long-term lowering of enjoyment of life or inability to visualize a happy future. It’s a period of unhappiness or low morale which lasts longer than several weeks and may include ideation of self-inflicted injury or suicide.

                      MYTHS OF DEPRESSION.
Most people have a lot of opinions of depression which are rather vague/false, of which some are:
- People don't like to talk about it, they feel the more you talk about it, the worse it becomes.
- It's a poor man's problem: They say rich kids/man don't get depressed, but I say no to that, most rich people do get depressed.
- Some also say it’s a rich man/kid's problem: They say when you have enough money that you start bringing up names of problems like depression.
- Africans don't get depressed: Have heard people say that our songs most especially Nigerian songs which are livelier don't get people depressed, but what happens when the music is off? Or there's none at all?? You sink back into the mood.

 TRUTH ABOUT DEPRESSION.
- Everyone suffers from depression but in different levels: We all have suffered from depression even the greatest and happiest ones but in different ways and times, but we have different reactions to them either through self-cutting, shutting people out, some jack back up after a while, or putting more efforts into work not to think about it, suicide.etc
- Talking about it goes a long way in solving it.
- Africans and everyone do get depressed.
- Depression is not a sign of weakness. It means you have been strong for far too long.
Depression comes from lack of adequacy/inadequacy, broken heart, rejection, abuse, when things don't seem to be going your way/working out, environment and so much more, it also comes in different ways; sometimes I feel I’m too happy for my own good, so I sometimes let depression come in, to feel a little bit of sadness. The deeper you sink into it, the deeper it becomes.
Depression is a prison where you are both the suffering prisoner and the cruel jailer. - Dorothy Rowe.

 TACKLING DEPRESSION.
I.
ADMIT IT: Knowing that it’s a problem and believing in recovery is the first step of tackling it, some people see it as norm and a way of life, but no, it isn't, you’re supposed to be happy and free and not tied down to something or someone, words or feelings. You are supposed to express yourself the way you want to and not how people expect you to.
II.
KNOW THE SOURCE: Knowing the source helps, it could come from being rejected, what someone said/did, your past, abuse or someone you need to forgive and let go of to be free. When you know the source, you will be able to know how to go about it.
III.
PRAY ABOUT IT: Prayer is a communication between man and God. It’s talking and taking your problems to God like He is human. Pray to God about it, tell Him to show you the way out of it. When it Comes, Pray about it.
IV.
TAKE YOUR MIND OFF IT:  Go out, try new places or go on an adventure and explore, Listen to Clean Music, Do something New. Stay Productive, depression comes when you have little or nothing doing, but when you productive, it tends to go, the thought doesn't creep in. Avoid people and things that bring up depression, the kind of music you listen to also helps; some bring up memories that sink you into depression.
V.
SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP: You could go to a Psychiatrist/Shrink, if you feel the need to talk to someone that might understand and be able to help you.
VI.
KNOW YOUR WORTH: Knowing who you are and your Purpose helps in tackling depression, helps to silence those voices in your head.

Taking a step towards Happiness goes a long way than Procrastinating and Giving-up.
So if you know someone that's depressed, give them a smile, try to help them with these little tips, pray for and with them, take them out to explore/ make them try something new.

The journey might not be easy but trust me, these steps are worth trying. Next week, I will be talking about knowing your Self-worth, as it's one of the ways of tackling depression (be sure to subscribe, so you can get the first dibs!). I hope this post has been helpful and inspiring. If you would like to talk, you can send me an email - aevetonnia@gmail.com.
